Table Thai Massage
Thai massage on a table instead of the floor, for anyone who finds it hard to get down onto a mat because of their knees or anything else, or who simply prefers a bed.
Nuad Thai · Monroe Street, Madison
Acupressure, assisted stretching and rhythmic compression on a floor mat, from a team trained by a therapist who learned it in Bangkok more than twenty years ago.
Traditional Thai massage
Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing art practiced throughout Thailand, where people receive it for preventative care, recovery from injury and pain. Pressure along the body's energy lines releases tension in the joints and muscles, while assisted yoga-like stretches, rocking and rhythmic compression open the body back up.

Thai-style reflexology: stretching and compression of the lower legs and feet, and a wooden rod on the reflex points of the feet that correspond to the organs of the body, for general health and well-being.
Thai foot massage with the owner. Kay trained in Bangkok over twenty years ago and taught Thai foot massage for many years. She is semi-retired and takes a limited number of clients.
Luk pra kob, from traditional Thai medicine: warm herbal compresses pressed along the body help muscles relax quickly. Turmeric, used by Thai women for centuries, purifies and soothes the skin, and prai leaves it soft and smooth. The 90-minute session uses two herbal balls.

The owner
Kay first received Thai massage while living in Japan, and it worked so well that she went to Thailand to learn it, taking three courses at the Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Bangkok. She ran a Thai massage shop in Japan before moving to America, studied Western massage in Madison, and taught Thai massage in Madison College's massage program for years.
Today she runs D-CHAI, teaches her own 100-hour course, and still takes a few clients herself.

I look for massage therapy trying to address physical problems, more so than relaxing feel-good treatments, and this place consistently delivers.

I always feel like D-CHAI is a place of healing and more productive than physical therapy often times. Yes, you can get a relaxing massage, but more importantly you can get a wellness massage.

Even when my body is in open rebellion, the effects shine through a day or two later. Leila does a fantastic job and is wonderfully intuitive during a session.
